Safari Design was born from a deep personal connection to Africa, shaped by founder Tarryn Troutman. The company reflects a love story that began in childhood. Growing up in South Africa, Tarryn was surrounded by the bush and Africa’s wildlife from an early age, going on family safaris before she could even walk. These early experiences fostered an enduring fascination with Africa’s iconic animals and untamed beauty. Today, that lifelong bond is woven into every journey Safari Design creates, from intimate wildlife encounters on safari to culturally rich experiences across Southern and Eastern Africa.

Tarryn lived in South Africa there until the age of 36, where she owned and operated a successful event management company, producing hundreds of events—many of which involved complex travel logistics and itineraries for clients and guests. After relocating to the United States, she worked alongside her husband as a fundraising event consultant and host for nonprofits and national celebrity foundations.

Attending these events often sparked meaningful conversations, as those who heard her accent were drawn to her and began sharing their aspirations of traveling to Africa.  As these inquiries grew, what began as informal guidance, naturally evolved into Safari Design—a white‑glove, concierge‑style travel service devoted to creating highly personalized African journeys.

Tarryn’s professional background, combined with extensive travel throughout South Africa and journeys to eight African countries, gives her a rare ability to design itineraries that are not only flawlessly executed, but deeply meaningful.
