“Safari Eyes” - The Hippo Spa

Are those rocks? Or are there some massive creatures called hippos scattered in between? When on safari you have to put on your "Safari Eyes". Looking through the vegetation, looking into the water - watching for the slightest movement of an ear or an eye blinking. Wildlife blends into the environment - to both protect themselves from predators or, as predators, to get as close as possible to their prey.

I took this photo while on safari with my family in the Kruger National Park in July 2025. We were crossing the bridge near Lower Sabi and as we drove past, my dad pointed and said "Are those hippos?" Yes, there they were indeed. Lying in the water running over them. The Hippo Spa.
